Woman assaults taxi driver and flees with his cab

An Indian taxi driver was allegedly assaulted and kicked out of his cab by a female passenger on early Thursday morning.

An Indian taxi driver was allegedly assaulted by a female passenger in Adelaide on Thursday.

Raminder Singh, a taxi driver in Adelaide, picked up a female and a male passenger from Adelaide and was driving them to West Beach on early Thursday morning when the woman allegedly started assaulting him.

Mr Singh stopped the taxi and ran off and the woman got into the driver’s seat and drove the taxi away, South Australia Police said.

Mr Singh called the police and the vehicle was found a short time later abandoned not very far from where the alleged assault took place.

SA Police Dog Arnie was called in to assist, and located the woman nearby.

A 30-year-old woman from Western Australia has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, illegal use of a motor vehicle, possessing a prohibited weapon after she was found in possession of a taser and property damage.

She has been refused police bail and she appeared in Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday.
