Government promises 'surge capacity' to clear visa backlogs

After coming to power, the Albanese government has named fixing the visa backlog as a priority, as the problem prolongs waiting times for applicants and businesses desperate for staff. As a solution to the challenge, the Department of Home Affairs has said that it is redirecting resources and hiring more staff.
