The head of Kharisma Hijau Daun - KHD, Hermanto, explained to SBS Indonesian that their products have been well received in Bali, but not maximally in other cities in Indonesia.
Today, awareness of the use of new eco-friendly products stands out in Bali because it is driven by the demand of foreign tourists and the awareness of local business operators, while in other regions their use has not been maximized due to the lack of enforcement of laws against the ban on plastics.

Although breakthroughs such as environmentally friendly bags and straws made of cassava have come through the initiative of the company Kharisma Hijau Daun (KHD), the adoption of this product in Indonesia still faces great challenges, especially related to selling prices that are up to two to three times more expensive than conventional plastics.
The high price is triggered by the cost of cassava cultivation raw materials that are more expensive than petroleum pulp and the still limited production volume.
The future of these environmentally friendly products depends heavily on the support of businesspeople and fluctuations in petroleum prices that are expected to narrow the price gap so that cassava based products are able to compete widely in the national market.
