Trials will now begin in the United States where the virus is at its worst, with hopes it could be in approved for use by the end of the year.


Human trials are indicating a British coronavirus vaccine is probably safe and triggers a strong immune response.

Lead researcher Sarah Gilbert says there are still two problems to overcome: the first, does the vaccine produce enough of an immune response to prevent infection? Is the vaccine is safe to use in elderly people or those with pre-existing medical conditions?
