The World Health Organization [[WHO]] says it's vital organisers of festivals during the European summer inform attendees about how to avoid contracting monkey pox.

Summer arrives in the Northern Hemisphere and along with it music festivals, Pride parades, and other mass gatherings. The community is enthusiastic to attend.

But there are also concerns that gatherings with large numbers of visitors could contribute to the spread of monkeypox.

Monkeypox is an endemic disease in Africa. Transmission is by skin-to-skin and face-to-face contact. Symptoms usually begin with fever, headache, mild muscle aches and fatigue. A few days later skin lesions may appear.

The sudden appearance of monkeypox in other regions simultaneously has shocked health authorities. Europe has recorded more than 1,500 cases, accounting for 85 percent of the global total.
