The Muhibah Angklung team from Bandung was the highlight of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Indonesia's Independence Day organised by ICC in Sydney.

The Indonesian Community Council (ICC) of NSW celebrated Indonesia's 80th anniversary by hosting a series of culinary and cultural festivals on August 23.

One of the highlights was the performance of the Muhibah Angklung team from Bandung, West Java.

One of the audiences, Pat Hanna, said he was lucky to witness such an incredible performance by the Indonesian musical group that showed—especially to Australians—their capability.

“The music is unbelievable, the traditional music is fantastic. The instruments themselves are out of this world,” said Mr Hanna.

We're so lucky to have them here in Australia, to show Australians -- particularly, not just Indonesians but Australians -- what they're capable of doing.

The youth group of AIYA (Australia-Indonesia Youth Association) also participated in the event by sending its representatives, Andaleeb and Dominique. What are their roles in the event? And what's the story behind Muhibah Angklung's performance with its 36 members in Sydney?
