The deepest view of the universe - more than 13 billion light years away - has been revealed in the first of a series of images from the world's new powerful telescope.

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has captured a high-resolution image of some of the very first galaxies to form in the universe.

Launched seven months ago on Christmas Day after many delays (2021), the 15-billion-dollar telescope is 100 times more powerful than its predecessor, the Hubble telescope launched in 1990.

Data collected from the telescope - orbiting the sun, 1.5 million kilometres away from the Earth - is being analysed by scientists around the world.
