Jayanto Tan, a Sydney-based Chinese-Indonesian visual artist, admitted he was surprised when an offer to exhibit his work in Queensland was presented before him.
"I didn't feel that important," he told SBS Indonesian. Nevertheless he was delighted to be able to bring his lantern works to the Museum of Brisbane to welcome the Year of the Horse.
When interviewed by SBS Indonesian ahead of the event last week, Mr. Tan was busy at the Loupe Creative Space studio, which also serves as a venue for exhibiting his work and conducting interactive art activities with the local community.


Having exhibited his work in various cities in Australia and even as far as Europe, Mr Tan admitted that his childhood and the way he was raised in his family are reflected in the way he carries himself and the works he creates.
