Who listens to the radio? Community Radio and the Empowerment of Women

On a global level radio is still the most widely used medium of communication. It has the potential to bring change, to cater for diversity and to empower. Emerging technologies should be able to support this potential.


Prof Hermin Indah Wahyuni is a senior lecturer in the Department of Communications in the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Gadjah Mada University.  To celebrate World Radio Day she spoke with Sri Dean about the current position of community radio in Indonesia, its successes, challenges and relevance to Indonesia.
