Diperkirakan tingkat emisi karbon akan meningkat seperti sebelum pandemi setelah kuncitara dihapuskan.

Data memperlihatkan emisi karbon turun hingga 5,4% pada tahun 2020, akibat kuncitara COVID-19 karena berkurangnya perjalanan darat dan udara. Namun berdasarkan laporan Global Carbon Project diperkirakan emisi karbon akan naik kembali ke tingkat sebelum pandemi.
