Taranta Festival organisers have announced the cancellation of all the events scheduled until Sunday 15 March 2020.
The second edition of the Italian folk festival in Melbourne, much anticipated after the success of its debut in 2019, is added to a long list of events canceled or postponed in Australia, not least, the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
We regret to inform that the events planned for the remainder of the 2020 Taranta Festival have been cancelled. We have really tried to keep going, but things have changed in the last 48 hours. To protect our audience, we have decided that cancelling is the right decision.
Earlier this week, the coronavirus emergency had already blocked the band Tarantula Garganica in Italy, but other artists - such as Enza Pagliara and Dario Muci, in the photo- had reached the capital of Victoria.
Though we are disappointed, we will make the best of the situation. Because we believe that music has the power to lift our spirits and heal, we will produce a recording with the participation of the many artists involved in the festival. This will be the Taranta Festival’s gift to you – our supporters – and to the whole world. Because art is life!"
