On 1 June, 2019, Italian prime Minister Giuseppe Conte swore at the Quirinale, giving the go-ahead to the executive led by Lega-M5S.
A year later, the balance is increasingly blurred, with the same Premier threatening to leave his post in the event of non-negotiation with Europe.
Also, the European and regional elections in Italy, overturned the balance of power within the coalition with over 34% of the votes collected by Lega.
"The government goes on, if everyone keeps their word" Matteo Salvini said in the past few hours, adding "I don't fight with anyone, I haven't been talking to insults or attacks for weeks. I have no time to waste, and we don't have any".
These are only some of the most recent examples of internal contrasts, but is there anything else?
We asked our guest Chiara De Lazzari, Teaching Associate in the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Melbourne and at Monash University, and our listeners what is their assessment of the Italian government.
