Italian fixations with fictional ailments has been the subject of an interesting article written by Italy's BBC correspondent, Dany Mitzman.
Dany Mitzman has identified many ailments that are almost impossible to describe, let alone suffer from, such as the "cervicale" (no English translation available) or "mal di fegato" (liver-ache), although you cannot actually feel your liver.
We asked our audience to tell us if they ever suffered of ailments such as the "cervicale" or "mal di fegato" or any other "typically Italian" illnesses.
