The Gran Chaco is one of the main geographic regions of South America and extends between Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay, in an area between the Paraguay and Paraná rivers and the Andean plateau. It is the largest virgin forest in South America after the the Amazon.
The area represents one of the richest ecosystems in the world for the variety of flora and fauna, but the rapid colonization and climate change are threatening the stability of this delicate system.
In the Argentine area, a project called 'Kokuè' provides indigenous peoples with technological tools to combat the consequences of climate change.
'Kokuè' in Guaraní language means 'vegetable garden' and has given its name to an App and a board game to help small producers and local families to grow small domestic gardens for daily subsistence.
Alice Soldi and Giovanni Salemi are two of the four Italian collaborators of the Civil Peace Corps who are carrying out the project in Argentina with the NGO ACDI, the Asociación Cultural para el Desarrollo Integral, and the AVSI Foundation.
