Caravaggio masterpiece held as ransom by the Mafia

A Caravaggio masterpiece stolen from a Palermo church in over fifty years ago, was kept for ransom in the house of mafia boss Gaetano Badalamenti, according to the revelation found in a video of Monsignor Rocco Benedetto who died in 2003.


Italian police is trying to locate the masterpiece and return it to San Lorenzo church in Palermo.
