A study sponsored by the Australian Institute entitled 'Climate of the Nation' just published has examined public perception of climate change. Of the 2,000 people who took part in the survey 77% said they believed in climate change, 12% did not believe it and 11% said they were undecided.
The study's director Richie Merzian said that the result reflects the need to have more ambitious environmental policies in the country: "Australians want more from the federal government. The federal government does not even have a climate energy policy".
We discussed the implications of climate change in Australia with Alberto Meucci and Filippo Nelli, both civil engineers from Ocean Engineering Centre at Melbourne University, and we asked our listeners "How important is this topic for you?"
