In Mexico, infections and the death toll continue to rise, also due to contradictory messages from the authorities and a health system that is not adequate to face the pandemic.
The North American country - which has a long and "problematic" northern border with the United States - has almost 130 million inhabitants and, despite having one of the most developed economies in Latin America, still suffers from serious problems related to social inequality, crime and corruption.
