Dialects make a comeback

Ruben Benatti, Angela Tarantini

Some scholars believe that the knowledge of dialects decreases with raising levels of education, but researcher and linguist Ruben Benatti and PhD student Angela Tarantini speculate that this is not happening among young Italian-Australians, who are rediscovering the dialects of their families. An event will be held at the Italian Museum on Tuesday 13 September at 6.30pm, entitled "Italian dialects down-under: a richness to preserve".The event is free but an RSVP is required, visit: goo.gl/PcNf2G
