Stella O'Brien doesn't have any Italian relatives but learnt Italian at a bilingual school in Sydney.

We interviewed her as part of our fortnightly segment: La lingua più bella del mondo - 'the most beautiful language in the world'.

Stella practices Italian with her two siblings at home and is dreaming to go back to Italy soon and ride a gondola in Venice.

She is studying for the CELI exam - one of the most widely recognised certificates for learners of Italian.

It is issued by the University for Foreigners of Perugia (Università per Stranieri Perugia) and is recognised by the Italian Department of Education and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The CELI 3 exam is an entrance requirement for all non-Italian students who would like to enrol in an Italian University.

Stella spoke with Davide Schiappapietra about her love for the Italian language and culture. Click on the audio player above to listen to the interview.
