The Calabrian songkeeper and songman Mimmo Cavallaro will be in Australia for the first time for a tour in the main capital cities.
Mimmo Cavallaro's repertoire includes a dynamic and passionate modern mix of traditional Calabrian folk music; his research expands through "field investigations", analyzing and recording a variety of stylistic features that characterize the different regions of Calabria - investigating culture, music, tradition and how they correlate with everyday life even today. With this he has forged a path of southern style ethnomusicology, bringing the peoples’ music back to the people, thus giving birth to a passion in unique songwriting and interpretations of traditional verse.
Cavallaro is presently the most dominating interpreter of the Calabrian musical tradition, packing out the piazzas all across Italy and Europe, Canada, Argentina and beyond - taking his vibrant and rich performance abroad to audiences far and wide.
Proudly supported by The Rustica Project, Cavallaro will play Sunday 10th November 2019 in Melbourne. The muso will play in other capital cities as weel, details will be released soon.
