Riccardo Ghia, Hong Kong-based Research Editor at global financial news and data service Mergermarket analyses the financial and political situation in the Chinese special administrative region.

According to Riccardo Ghia the situation in Hong Kong must be analyzed considering three levels: a local level, a level that looks at Greater China (a point of view that includes China, Taiwan and the two "special statute regions" of Hong Kong and Macau), and a third level of international geopolitics.

"If you do not take all three levels into consideration, you cannot understand what is happening in Hong Kong and it is easy to end up in opposing propaganda camps".
