Friday at noon on World Movies - The King's Speech

After the death of his father King George V and the scandalous abdication of King Edward VIII, Bertie, who has suffered from a debilitating speech impediment all his life, is suddenly crowned King George VI of England. With his country on the brink of war and in desperate need of a leader, his wife, Elizabeth, the future Queen Mother, arranges for her husband to see an eccentric speech therapist, Lionel Logue. Directed by Tom Hooper and stars Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.

Friday at 8.40pm on SBS - Buena Vista Social Club

From acclaimed director Wim Wenders, comes this extraordinary documentary about a group of Cuban musicians known as 'los superablos' or, 'the super grandfathers'. In 1996, Ry Cooder gathered together some of the greatest names in the history of Cuban music to collaborate on what became the best selling album 'Buena Vista Social Club'. Inspired by these colourful characters and their extraordinary music, Wenders' film follows the musicians from Havana to Amsterdam and finally to Carnegie Hall in New York.

Friday at 11.35pm on World Movies - Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

When a politician's daughter steals a legendary warrior's precious sword, a sequence of events is triggered to recover the sword, which leads to a deadly encounter with the thief's witch-like minder. From renowned director Ang Lee, the film received four Academy Awards in 2001, including Best Foreign Language Film and Best Cinematography. Stars Chow Yun-Fat, Michelle Yeoh, Zhang Ziyi and Chang Chen.

Saturday at 6.30pm on SBS Food - Sicily With Aldo And Enzo

Like the bad boy of Sicily, Palermo sits on the northern coast in the shadows of the towering mountains and it is the setting for a programme that features street food, Sicilian style. Palermo is Enzo’s home town and he is keen to show off to Aldo, the culinary delights the street has to offer, but perhaps you have to be a native of Palmero to truly embrace some of the more rarefied dishes!

Saturday at 7.30pm on World Movies - Carol

Based on Patricia Highsmith’s novella The Price of Salt, which depicts the burgeoning relationship between two very different women in 1950s New York. One is a woman in her 20s (Rooney Mara) working in a department store who dreams of a more fulfilling life, and the other, a wife (Cate Blanchett) trapped in a loveless, moneyed marriage desperate to break free.

Andrea is pulled away from his slacker lifestyle in Rome to visit his dying father in Nairobi - a man who abandoned him and now wants to reconnect before he dies.

Sunday at 5.30pm on SBS Food - A Gondola On The Murray

Early summer is a special time for Stefano in Mildura. It is the season when the trees are heavy with the first stone fruit. With some new season peaches he picks straight from the tree, Stefano cooks a delicious upside down peach cake. Apart from its large Italian population, people from many countries have chosen to live in Mildura and Stefano visits his friend Ali who makes wonderful Turkish bread by hand in the traditional method.

Monday at 8.30pm on SBS Food - Two Greedy Italians... Still Hungry

Chefs Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo explore how Italy's social history has created a culture of admiration for superficial accoutrements in the showbiz port of Portofino. They discover that the grandeur of the Hotel Splendido leaves them feeling empty and embark on a journey to the mountain tops and back to try and rediscover the heart and soul of real Italian bella figura through food and the people who produce it.

Wednesday at 9.25pm on Viceland - The Ring

A young journalist must investigate a mysterious videotape, which seems to cause the death of anyone in a week of viewing it.
