During a press conference held at Palazzo Chigi on the 3rd of June, Italian premier Giuseppe Conte declared that he wants to seize "the historic opportunity" of the Recovery Fund and that his government is working to prepare the economic plan that will illustrate how Italy intends to use European funds, so that their allocation can be approved.

Conte also kicked off Phase 3 of the coronavirus emergency in Italy, by drawing inspiration from the spirit of the founding fathers of the post-war Republic, in order to relaunch the country and the government.

For the first time since the beginning of the emergency, the number of regions that have not recorded a victim of coronavirus in the last 24 hours has risen to 12. Meanwhile, yesterday the borders between the regions were opened. It is now possible to circulate freely in the entire country - islands included - but Italian citizens still have to wait for the opening of the borders of other European states.
