On stage from September the 12th at the Melbourne Fringe Festival "La Nonna" by the performer Samuel Dariol, who inspired by his own history and his relationship with his grandmother staged a drag cabaret.

The idea comes from the meeting of Samuel with an aboriginal woman of the Arrernte tribe of Central Australia, which expressed the need for the young generations to reconnect to their own identity and roots through a deep dialogue with the elders of their community.

This is how Samuel begins his journey to discover his grandmother's story, a dialogue that obviously takes place in the kitchen.

A story of emigration that wants to distance itself from the stereotype by celebrating the matriarchal, queer and Italian identity as Anna Cerreto, one of the cast actresses, told SBS Italian: "La nonna prepares food for the public and we eat together while she tells her stories of the war in Sicily, her marriages and life in Australia", which was not exactly like the dream of the lucky country she had in mind.
