Conversation classes, free wifi, kids activities and all the other services that make libraries a place to explore for newcomers.
Elisabetta Sciortino works as Library Officer at the Whitehorse Manningham Library in Doncaster, Victoria.
"It is important to talk about the world of libraries in Australia especially to those from outside; the impact I had when I arrived was of positive shock," Elisabetta explained at SBS Italian, "I come from a small provincial town where the library didn't even have a website. When I entered my first library in Australia, they offered us free services for children, English conversation classes and much more at the library. "
"My advice, if you have not already done so, is enter the first library you find and discover this wonderful world", said Elisabetta, who decided to make the happy discovery her profession.
