Further chaos created in the North African country by General Haftar's attack on the capital Tripoli has been exploited by ISIS with a bloody attack on a town in the centre of the country.
Even if the assault launched by Haftar appears to have lost momentum in the last few hours, another of its effects is the postponement of the Ghadames national conference, which should have indicated an election date and therefore a possible solution to the crisis.
We spoke with Arturo Varvelli, researcher of ISPI (Institute for International Political Studies), and asked him first who is General Haftar and how he managed to gain control of a large slice of Libyan territory in such a short time.
