French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the nation live on television, denouncing the violence that occurred during anti-government demonstrations, but at the same time assuming responsibility for his choices.
The controversial measures have brought to the streets thousands of people wearing high visibility yellow vests. To reach out to the protesters, Macron announced new measures to contain the widespread discontent.
