Meet Francesca Tardioli, the new Italian Ambassador in Australia

In this first interview since her appointment, the new Italian representative in Canberra talks about her projects and goals.


Francesca Tardioli began her mandate as the Ambassador of Italy to Australia on September 16. Born in Foligno (Umbria) and having graduated in Political Science, she commenced her diplomatic career back in 1991 and she held the position of Deputy Political Director and Principal Director for the United Nations and Human Rights at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Francesca tardioli worked as Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Operations, NATO, in Brussels. Among her many mission, her previous overseas experiences include the role of Consul General in Nurnberg, Germany, and in Tripoli, Lybia, as well as First Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

In this interview with SBS Italian as the new Italian Ambassador down under she illustrate her guidelines, projects and goals to improve the relationships between Italy and Australia.
