Our weekly segment on the new Italian immigration in Australia today hosts Flavio Severgnini, 36, originally from Bergamo. Flavio is a doctor, in particular an anesthesiologist, who has been working in Sydney for less than a year.

He is in Australia by virtue of a "shortage skilled visa", better known by its identification number, 482. What does his work entail? When you see a New South Wales Ambulance helicopter flying to rescue a victim, Flavio - or one of his colleagues -  is also on board.
