Internal turmoil in the New South Wales government could come to a head this morning (Friday).

New South Wales premier Gladys Berejiklian has given National Party M-Ps until 9am local time to backflip on a threat to move the cross bench.

If they don't, she says National Party ministers could be sacked.

New South Wales National Party leader, and deputy premier to Ms Berejiklian, John Barilaro, has threatened a mutiny because of a dispute over the state's koala protection policy.

He says Nationals M-Ps will abstain from voting on government bills whilst they fight changes to the protection plan.

Nationals M-Ps also won't attend joint party room meetings.

If the Nationals go through with their threat, Ms Berejiklian would lead a minority government.

 

Metropolitan Melbourne residents are subject to Stage 4 restrictions and must comply with a curfew between the hours of 8pm and 5am. During the curfew, people in Melbourne can only leave their house for work, and essential health, care or safety reasons.

Between 5am and 8pm, people in Melbourne can leave the home for exercise, to shop for necessary goods and services, for work, for health care, or to care for a sick or elderly relative.

All Victorians must wear a face covering when they leave home, no matter where they live. 

People in Australia must stay at least 1.5 metres away from others. Check your state’s restrictions on gathering limits.
