Curiosity: in a scene from "Parasite" we can listen to "In ginocchio da te", a 1964 song by Gianni Morandi.
"Today everyone calls me as if I had won the Oscar," the Bolognese singer told ANSA. "The nice thing is that in this film there is a song that I recorded when I was not yet twenty years old. Anyway I'm happy: the film is beautiful and there is something Italian inside".
When he chose the song, Bong Joon-Ho did not know the lyrics. "I was looking for a relaxing song that would make me think of the Mediterranean sun. I didn't know the words, it's a coincidence that in the sequence the protagonists are on their knees".
At the Cannes Film Festival, where the film had won the Palme d'Or and wooed the international audience, the director said he had chosen Morandi's song for the title, "because the protagonists are literally on their knees". When they had explained to him that it was a love song he had burst into a loud laugh: "But it's brilliant! So in the context of the film it's even more fun!".
