Martino Malerba is a marine biologist and a research Fellow at the Centre for Geometric Biology della Monash University, where he carried out his research for four years focusing on phytoplankton, which is vital for our entire ecosystem as it is the base of the food chain.
The aim of his research, using a combination of empirical and theoretical approaches, is to "advance our understanding of energy flows, population dynamics, resource competition and species coexistence."
