2020 marks the 500th anniversary of the death of Raffaello Sanzio, one of the masters of Italian Renaissance art.
Raffaello was born in Urbino in 1483. Very young, he moved between Umbria, Marche and Tuscany where he left works considered absolute masterpieces such as the 'Marriage of the Virgin', now preserved in the Pinacoteca di Brera, the 'Madonna del Cardellino' of the Uffizi and the 'Pala Baglioni', today at the Borghese Gallery in Rome.

But it is in the Rome that Raffaello consecrates himself as the "divine painter".
His artistic talent included also architecture, Raphael was appointed manager of the "Fabbrica di San Pietro" basilica.
Roberta Crisci, professor of art history at Federation University, tells the story of Raphael's life and works in Rome, also remembering his importance, as prefect of antiquity, as initiator of that concept of protection of the historical-artistic heritage at the base of article 9 of the Italian Constitution.
