German champion Pascal Ackermann made a dream Giro d’Italia debut when he timed his sprint to perfection to win the 205km second stage from Bologna to Fucecchio. A day earlier, Slovenia’s Primož Roglič won the opening time trial in Bologna.
Tonight, the third stage will take the peloton over 220km from Vinci to Orbetello.
