On Friday, the leader of the League and Italy’s Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini, announced a motion of no confidence against the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte. This comes after less than a year and a half of the signing of a government contract between the League and Five Star Movement.

Salvini wants to go to a snap election to capitalise on the good result his party got in the European elections and the current opinion polls that see the League on the rise, while the other political groups appear more cautious.

Journalist Carlo Fusi, editor of Italian daily “Il Dubbio”, reports.
