Valentina Mella, researcher in zoology of the University of Sydney, suggests ways to give our contribution to the conservation of koalas in Australia.

According to a WWF research, half of the koala population in Australia disappeared during the summer of 2019/2020.

The damage does not only concern the number of specimens that died in the bushfires, but also the further loss of their natural habitat.

In 2012, the small Australian bear had been included among the vulnerable species precisely because of the progressive loss of Australian native forest; now the animal welfare organization asks that the species be moved to the list of endangered animals.

Valentina Mella, zoology researcher at the University of Sydney, studies a koala colony in New South Wales. From her observatory, she told what endangers the species and what we can do to make a contribution to safeguarding the species.
