The idea is to facilitate the cohabitation between a pensioner who has a spare room at home and a young person not resident in Milan, but looking for accommodation during the university years.

As part of this initiative created by the not-for-profit organization "Meglio Milano", guests do not pay a real rent, but take part in the household expenses with a reimbursement of about 250-280 euros per month. They also keep the older person company and contribute to the house chores.

The initiative has been going on for 14 years now, enjoying much success and interest. There have been more than 600 cohabitations during this period, some of which lasted for several years.

We talked about the project with "Meglio Milano" coordinator, Monica Bergamasco.
