Lynette Dawson was 33 when she went missing from Sydney's northern beaches in January 1982, leaving behind two young daughters.

The case is the subject of an investigative podcast series The Teacher's Pet which has uncovered new evidence about the disappearance of Lynette Dawson from Sydney's northern beaches in January 1982.

Last December, an application for bail for her then husband Chris Dawson was refused and Dawson taken into custody of NSW detectives.

How do you re-open cold case as old as 30 years? Forensic entomologist Paola Magni reveals SBS the science and the techniques behind the police inquiries.
