Why the king of Tuscan wines' symbol is a black rooster?


The image on the labels that for centuries has distinguished Chianti Classico bottles is the 'Gallo Nero', the black rooster. It is also the symbol of the ancient Lega Militare del Chianti, that the painter Giorgio Vasari depicted on the ceiling of the Salone dei Cinquecento, in the Florentine Palazzo Vecchio.
