The Salvini effect: "Today in Italy there are 50,000 more irregular immigrants"

Six months after the approval of the Salvini's new immigration-security decree the number of illegal immigrants in Italy increased dramatically reaching 1% of the total population. And the numbers keep increasing.


The decree aimed at reducing the number of irregular immigrants in the country, but is not having the desired effects. We discussed it with Matteo Villa, researcher of the ISPI (Institute for International Political Studies) based in Milan.
