Doctor Pietro Ferrari, head researcher at the International Agency for Research on Cancer says.

Italian-born, French-based researcher Pietro Ferrari is head of the Nutritional Methodology and Biostatistics Group. He's currently in Australia courtesy of the Victoria Cancer Council to present his work on the link between alcohol consumption and the incidence of cancer of the oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, oesophagus, liver, colorectum, and female breast. A connection which has been deemed as causal by the WCRF and by IARC.

In this interview with SBS Italian, doctor Ferrari explains that alcohol drinking may also be causally related to other cancer sites such as prostate and pancreatic cancers and lymphomas, while recent evidence is suggestive of a protective role of alcohol use for kidney and thyroid cancers. In this presentation, research activities addressing multiple aspects related to the relationship between alcohol intake and the risk of cancer will be presented and critically discussed.
