Trump encouraged the world to instead "optimism" at the World Economic Forum.

Democrats have started presenting their opening arguments in the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump, accusing him of using the power of his office to cheat in the upcoming election.

Mr Trump is accused of withholding military aid from Ukraine to pressure his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskiy to announce an investigation into Democrat Joe Biden, his potential presidential opponent.

In the mean time, the US President took part to the World Economic Forum in Davos, rejecting the calls for climate action.

"To embrace the possibilities of tomorrow, we must reject the perennial prophets of doom and their predictions of the apocalypse," Trump said.
