Sergio Mattarella visits Donald Trump in Washington to discuss business.

Donald Trump said the US will "carefully assess" Italy's claims that it has been excessively penalised by US tariffs over state aid to Airbus. This announcement was made during a meeting in the Oval Office between Italian President Sergio Mattarella and the American President.

"Italy has a problem on how 7.5 billion dollars in tariffs have been divided, it thinks it had a lesser role than other countries like France or Germany" continued Trump.

On the other hand, Mattarella said tariffs are hurting both economies and trade tensions dodn't "benefit anyone."

Carlo Fusi, Director at Il Dubbio in Rome, has more on the meeting between the two Presidents and on Italian Politics.
