Julian Assange, the Australian founder of Wikileaks, was arrested last week in London, after his asylum was lifted by the Ecuadorian embassy where he had taken refuge since 2012.
Assange is accused by the United States of hacking. If convicted, he risks a maximum of five years’ detention. The US Department of Justice confirmed that his arrest was carried out on the basis of the extradition treaty between the US and Britain.
Meanwhile, Assange's biological father, John Shipton, said he was shocked to see his son's poor health in the images of his arrest in London. In an interview with the Sunday Herald Sun, Shipton appealed to Prime Minister Scott Morrison to ask Britain for the extradition to Australia of his son.
We analysed the latest developments with journalist and founder of the website Wikilao, Lao Petrilli, and asked him first where Julian Assange is now.
