Brett Whiteley's life would have inspired many composers of past times. It is not a surprise that Opera Australia chose the life of this iconic and controversial Australian artist of our time for a new Opera.

Opera Australia's Artistic director Lyndon Terracini explains how the idea of an opera on "Whiteley" came about and why he believes it could become an international hit. “It will all depend on the music”, says Terracini and he believes that Elena Kats-Chernin’s composition has all it takes to appeal to the wider audience and become a success.
