Sydney vocal trio Viva La Diva is bringing a fresh sound to Italian music in Australia, blending timeless classics with contemporary pop, modern arrangements and choreography. The trio spoke to SBS Italian about their Italian-Australian roots and the inspiration behind the project.

Viva La Diva brings a new generation of Italian music to Sydney. Italian classics, contemporary pop and a strong connection to their heritage are at the heart of Viva La Diva, a Sydney-based vocal trio formed by Sara, Juliette and Jacinta.
The group came together just over a year ago, after recognising what they saw as a gap in the Australian music scene.

For the trio, however, the project is also deeply personal.
Italian traditions were a constant presence while they were growing up in Australia, from making sauce, salami and wine to singing around the family table.
A major part of the group's identity is giving well-known Italian songs a contemporary sound.
According to Sara, the aim is not to replace the originals, but to help them reach another generation.

The group has already started performing internationally, recently travelling to Canada, and hopes to continue connecting with Italian communities around the world while eventually releasing their own remixes and potentially original music.
Their next Sydney appearance will be at Ferragosto in Five Dock on Sunday, August 16, where they are promising a “half an hour of power”, featuring high-energy music, choreography and their signature stage outfits.
