Are you familiar with the tradition of intermezzi—short, light-hearted operas or short pieces performed between acts of a serious opera? Pergolesi's 'La serva padrona' is a masterpiece that, although originally composed as an intermezzo, came to be performed as a standalone work due to its popularity. Ayako Ohtake, a Sydney-based Japanese soprano singer, has selected ’Stizzoso mio stizzoso' this month. Ayako hosts monthly music segment called VIVA! Opera for SBS Japanese.
