Kanho Yasukuji, a Japanese Zen monk and musician, started to blend Buddhism and music and released his music piece featuring Heart Sutra in 2016. His performance was broadcast via YouTube in 2017 and Mr Yasukuji toured China for the first time in 2018 after becoming a Chinese social media sensation.

Mr Yakushiji is a Zen monk in Ehime, Japan and a musician who released five albums and 15 singles.

Last week, after finishing his tour in Malaysia and Singapore, Mr Yakushiji came to Australia to perform in Sydney and Melbourne.

"Australia is not a Buddihist country so I'm curious how the audience will react (to his music)," he said.

In the audio, Mr Yakushiji shares his struggles he had when he was younger and how the struggles led him to wear two hats eventually.
