Teaching English in Japan: the work experience but not as you know it

Have you ever wondered what it's like to live in Japan? If you are young, healthy and have passion to teach English, there is a chance to go work and experience a way of life in Japan.

The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme, so called "JET" Programme provides young people from around the world the opportunity to teach a foreign language at schools in Japan. Its programme is administered by local governments in Japan, supported by government authorities such as the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since it started in 1987, there are over 70,000 people from 75 different countries worked and experienced the life in Japan through JET programme. 

Last month, 7 JET returnees have been invited to the residence of Consul-General of Japan in Melbourne, Mr Kazuyoshi Matsunaga in Melbourne. SBS asks the JET returnees what it was like to live and work in Japan.
