World Football's governing body FIFA has named the cities to host the Women's World Cup in 2023. The tournament, to be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, will be the biggest sporting event to be held in the region since the Sydney Olympics.

Brisbane, Sydney Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth will all host matches.  Across the Tasman, Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Dunedin have been selected.

The five week tournament kicks-off in Auckland in July of 2023.

The size and reach of the tournament will make it one of the biggest sporting events ever staged in the southern hemisphere.

James Johnson is the Chief Executive of Football Australia and he says by the time the final rolls around at Sydney's Olympic Stadium on August the 20th a large chunk of the world's population will have engaged with the tournament.
